A volunteer run, non profit organization formed to bring free health care to those who have the least access to medical care.
Q. Who is eligible for care at St Clare Health Mission?
A. Those meeting the following criterea:
Individuals may have no insurance of any kind and may not be eligible for any public or private insuance. and
Those eligible must fall at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines. Income documentation is requested.
Q. What are the hours of operation and how can patients make an appointment to be seen?
A. Patients may register to be seen on a walk in basis on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m.
A. Wednesday Clinic is a physician referral clinic only. Appointments are reserved for people needing care and education regarding chronic health conditions. Appointments will be made at the time of the referral.
Q. Does St Clare Health Mission provide dental care?
A. St Clare Health Mission is not a provider of routine or restorative dental services. Through a grant from La Crosse Community Foundation, the St Clare Health Mission does refer and cover costs for emergency extractions. All patients must be seen and referred by physicians at the St Clare Health Mission. Dental access is a growing problem in our community. St Clare Health Mission representatives are working with the La Crosse Area Dental Coalition on local and state solutions to this serious health problem.
Q. What if a patient needs care beyond what St Clare Health Mission offers?
A. St Clare Health Mission physicians, under the direction of the director of St Clare have a referral process in place which allows limited needed medical treatment not available at St Clare Health Mission to be performed at local medical centers.
Q. Does St Clare Health Mission provide assistance with medications?
A. Medications written at St Clare Health Mission can be filled for free at our on site pharmacy. Patients will be assisted in completing applicatons for free medicine from pharmaceutical companies. St Clare Health Mission does not fill prescriptions written outside the clinic.
Q. Does St Clare Health Mission prescribe or provide narcotics?
A. St. Clare Health Mission is a narcotic free zone and DOES NOT prescribe or fill any narcotic or controlled substances.
Q. Do patients need to provide any income documentation?
A. Various types of income documentation are required by pharmaceutical companies. To receive assistance with medications we request that patients bring their last two pay stubs and a copy of of their most recent tax forms. If there is no employment income or taxes are not filed other types of documentation are accepted including; Social securty income, unemployment, food share benefits etc. If there has been a filing for disability or medical assistance proof of application or denial is accepted.
